Bandwidth Oversubscription Calculator

Check whether your internet uplink comfortably covers your subscribers at their busiest, and get a warning before you run into congestion. If you do not know your oversubscription ratio, the tool can work it out from your real usage.

What this tool does

Your customers almost never all use their full speed at the same moment, so it is normal to sell more total speed than your internet uplink (your backhaul) could carry if everyone maxed out at once. The oversubscription ratio is how far you stretch that. This tool checks whether your backhaul comfortably covers realistic busy-hour demand, and warns you before congestion starts slowing people down.

Do you already know your oversubscription ratio?

The typical package speed you sell, for example 20 Mbps
A common starting point for home broadband is 10 to 1. Not sure what yours is? Switch to "work it out from my usage" above.
The total internet capacity you purchase from your upstream provider
If you add about this many subscribers each month, the tool estimates when you will run low on capacity
